Mayfield hosted Flintridge Prep Tuesday night in a late-season Prep League battle.
The Cubs won the first two games, but Prep battled back and won the third set.
Was there any concern in the back of Mayfield’s minds, considering two weeks prior they dropped a home match to Chadwick in which they won the first two sets and then Dolphins went on the win the final three games?
Nope.
Mayfield composed itself and earned the 25-20, 25-9, 24-26 and 25-17 victory.
Haley Eaves paced the Cubs offense with 14 kills, Maeve Davitt added 32 digs and Ellie Watkins had 15 digs and 4 aces in the win.
Courtney Johnson led the Rebels with 11 kills and Ellen Chang had 21 digs.
Prep will host the bottom and top teams in the Prep League this week.
The Rebels welcome last-place Rio Hondo Prep today (Wednesday) and then Poly comes to Prep on Friday at 5:30.
Mayfield will travel to FSHA today in a nonleague match and then host Rio Hondo Prep on Thursday.
