Sophomore Charles Ross (Wexford, Pa. / North Allegheny) scored two goals as the Caltech men’s water polo offense struggled against RV/No. 2 University of Redlands in a 22-6 loss on Wednesday evening.

The two goals in today’s game helped Ross crack the top-five on the conference scoring leaderboard with a season total of 41 goals. Senior teammate Chris Bradley (Half Moon Bay, Calif. / Junipero Serra) also netted a brace and sits atop the leaderboard with 82 goals. Seniors Connor Lee (Arcadia, Calif. / Arcadia) and Parth Shah (Saratoga, Calif. / Saratoga) chipped in with two assists apiece, while freshman Bradley Justice (El Cajon, Calif. / Grossmont) recorded four steals.

The Bulldogs improved to 14-10 overall and remain unbeaten in conference play at 3-0 while the Beavers fall to 5-15 (0-3).

The Beavers held their own halfway into the first quarter, keeping the Bulldogs offense scoreless. With four minutes left in the first quarter, Redlands broke the deadlock and went on a scoring spree, netting three more goals to increase the lead to four. At the 1:40 mark, Justice put Caltech on the score board, decreasing the deficit to three. The hope for a comeback was short-lived, however, as the Bulldogs managed to score two more goals to end the first quarter with a 6-1 lead. The Beavers could not recover from the deficit as they were outscored 16-5 in the final three quarters.

Head Coach Jon Bonafede and the Beavers will travel to Thousand Oaks, California to take on Cal Lutheran University (9-9, 1-3) on Saturday, Oct. 29, at 11a.m.
