Accomplishments: It wasn’t necessarily her numbers in the circle that earned Aragon the athlete of the week recognition as much as it was her tenacity and perseverance in reversing more than a decade of Pacific League losses. Aragon went all 8 innings in Muir’s 11-10 victory over Pasadena on Thursday. It was the Mustangs’ first Pacific League win in at least 148 games dating back to 2005. Aragon also did her part at the plate too. Trailing 10-8, Aragon singled and came around to score to tie up the game and send it to extra innings. She got some help from Erica Morales and Yeimy Hernandez, who made nice plays to thwart a potential Pasadena rally in the eighth inning. The reason we say “at least” 147 consecutive league losses is because the school doesn’t know, and MaxPreps, only dates back to 2005. And to break a losing streak that dates back through at least three president’s, and to do it against crosstown rival Pasadena had to be special for Aragon and her teammates.
