Sooner or later, the Poly football team knew it wasn’t likely they’d remain undefeated.
The Panthers took an 11-0 record into their CIF-SS Division 10 quarterfinal playoff game at Aquinas of San Bernardino.
Aquinas didn’t just end Poly’s perfect season, they did so with an exclamation mark.
The Falcons (10-2) shut out Poly, 49-0, behind a balanced Falcons offense.
Salieu Ceesay threw 5 touchdown passes and 203 yards. He also picked off Poly quarterback John Genske.
Joska Gustaf caught two scoring passes from Ceesay.
Ceesay ended up throwing five TDs, two of them going to Joska Gustaf. Ceesay completed 11 of 20 passes for 203 yards, and he intercepted a pass on defense.
Branden Rankins rushed for 248 yards, including TD runs of 30 and 41 yards.
Genske completed just 10 of 27 passes for 160 yards.
