The Pasadena area girls volleyball scene is blessed with some incredible talent.

La Salle, Mayfield and the Flintridge Sacred Heart Academy programs all have outstanding players and duo’s.

One of the best and most exciting 1-2 punches, though, is without question a pair of seniors at Westridge.

Cal State Long Beach bound outside hitter Allison Martinez and her tag-team partner, Makana Meyer, who has a number of schools interested in her services, showed early on just what they’re capable of.

Even in a sweep.

Meyer and Martinez accounted for 29 of the Tigers’ 31 kills in Wednesday’s sweep of Village Christian.

Meyer had 16 kills and 3 aces, and Martinez added 13 kills and 5 aces.

Westridge defeated Village Christian 25-23, 25-17, 25-14.

Meyer also had 10 digs and Martinez had 6 digs.

Emmie Barnard added 25 assists and 5 digs.

Westridge gets its first big test Tuesday when they host Poly in a Prep League showdown.

The Panthers earned a five-game victory Tuesday night at Mayfield.
