Playing back to back nights, especially early in the season is a tough thing to ask of high school athletes.
But any time that second half of a two-game set is against a rival, all bets are off.
No area girls volleyball rivalry is as intense, it seems, as La Salle and Flintridge Sacred Heart.
The Tologs came into La Salle’s gym and took the first game.
But the Lancers rose to the occasion again, and earned an important victory Friday night in front of a packed and partisan crowd.
La Salle defeated FSHA by scores of 18-25, 25-8, 25-23, and 25-14.
In the Lancers’ five wins so far this season, they have won 15 of 16 sets.
Chloe Howell had 8 kills and 3 blocks for La Salle.
Megan Lund added 13 kills and 11 digs for FSHA.
Maddie Pernecky had 23 digs and Cate Doud 34 assists and 10 digs for the Tologs.
Sofia Sanchez had 7 kills for La Salle and Vanessa Ramirez added 12 digs and a kill.
The Lancers’ Tori Ashkinos had 24 assists, as well as 6 kills and an ace and Claire Forrest had 4 blocks.

All in all it was a great team effort. Proud to be on this team.”
