Freshmen Alex Janosi (Ann Arbor, Mich. / Dexter), Rahul Arun (Buffalo Grove, Ill. / Adlai E Stevenson) and Neil Sanderson (Laguna Beach, Calif. / Winchester) led the Caltech offense in Saturday’s men’s water polo game at Claremont-Mudd-Scripps Colleges, the Beavers’ 2017 SCIAC debut.
Janosi and Sanderson found their into the scoresheet by each scoring two goals. Arun added a goal for himself and assisted on both of Janosi’s goals while Janosi added an assist for himself on Sanderson’s goal. Janosi also went 4-for-4 on sprint attempts, and has quickly provided Caltech with an early-period spark in his short time with the team. He also led the Beavers with two steals.
The CMS offense proved potent early and often, opening the first frame with a 5-1 lead. Sophomore goalkeeper Bradley Justice (El Cajon, Calif. / Grossmont) held up in net however, stopping nine shots.
Head Coach Jon Bonafede and the Beavers will have a lengthy layoff before they look to right the ship in their home opener when they host SCIAC-rival Occidental College (0-4) on September 27.
