Mayfield and Poly in a Prep League showdown.
The Cubs win 7 of 9 singles matches, and the Panthers earn 7 doubles victories.
At the end of the 18 matches, both schools had 9 wins apiece and they had to go to a tiebreaker to announce a winner.
And by a combined games advantage of 74-69, it will go down in the books as a victory for Mayfield.
Lauren Panajotovic, the league’s premiere singles player, continued to crush her opponents.
The Cubs senior won all three matches and by scores of 6-1, 6-0, 6-0
Carly Hall, who plays No. 2 for Mayfield also, went 3-0, and her scores were 6-1, 6-3, 6-1
Sofia Mireles went 1-2, but defeated Poly’s No. 3 singles player, 6-2.
Poly’s No. 2 doubles team actually won all three matches.
Yumi Balthazar and Saya Desai won with scores of 6-2, 6-4 and 6-3.
Both the Panthers’ No. 1 and No. 3 doubles teams won 2 of their three matches.
No. 1 Tara Adarkar and Elizabeth Bogaard won two 6-3 matches and fell 6-3 in one set.
Poly’s No. 3 team of Ashley Wu and Simone Robinson earned 6-0 and 6-2 victories.
