You never want to look past any opponent, but Westridge has had Mayfield on their minds for about a week now.
After already defeating Prep League powers Poly and Chadwick, it’s just Mayfield that is Westridge’s last real test of the first round of league play.
But first came Rio Hondo Prep on Tuesday.
Westridge did not look past the Kares, but they did dispatch them quickly.
The Tigers earned a 25-13, 25-9 and 25-8 victory.
Westridge can now focus on the second-place Cubs and their 3 p.m. start on Wednesday.
Allison Martinez led the way with 12 kills, 3 digs and an ace.
Eryn Boken was huge with 7 kills, 8 digs and 7 aces.
Eva Lekovic also added 7 kills for the Tigers.
Julia Cruz had 8 digs and four aces and Emmie Barnard chipped in with 33 assists, 5 digs, 3 kills and 2 aces.
Krystal Raymundo had 4 kills, 4 digs and 3 aces for Westridge.
Westridge has now won all 9 sets its played in Prep League matches with Poly, Chadwick and Rio Hondo Prep.
