There are some people inside the Westridge gym that don’t think the Tigers are playing their best volleyball.
And while that is probably an accurate assertion, the thought of the Tigers getting much better must have future opponents very concerned.
Even if Westridge isn’t yet a well-oiled machine, the results speak for themselves.
The Tigers have yet to drop a single set in 2017, and that isn’t just a result of having what some consider a less-than-stellar schedule so far
Westridge coach Otto Lacayo is far from content with a number of small glitches he’d like to fix as the season goes on, but he’s certainly happy and willing to take a 10-0 start.
They dropped a one-set match against Sonora, but in their best-of-three matches, the Tigers have had their foot on the gas the entire time.
Allison Martinez isn’t 100-percent healthy, and yet she’s always the most dominant player on the court.
Martinez finished with 14 kills, 5 aces and 4 digs.
Her partner in crime, fellow senior Makana Meyer, added 12 kills, 4 digs and an ace.
Eryn Boken contributed 6 kills and Nicole Gibbs finished with 4 kills.
Eva Lecovic and Lauren Baydaline chipped in with 2 kills apiece.
Emmie Barnard had 33 assists and 4 digs.
Westridge will host Flintridge Prep on Tuesday at 5, as Prep League action resumes.
