The best way to win in any sport, let alone to bust up a losing streak is to get contributions from a number of players.
That’s exactly what happened Monday night when Marshall snapped a four-match losing streak.
The Eagles earned a 25-18, 25-21 and 25-23 victory in a nonleague contest.
Samantha James had 8 kills and 4 digs.
Risejah Velasco added 4 kills and 8 digs.
Allison Moore finished with 4 kills and 2 blocks.
And Aileen Lopez had 17 assists and 2 aces.
Marshall is now 6-8 overall, and 0-4 in league.
AGBU fell to 7-2.
Marshall will host Arroyo on Wednesday and Mountain View on Friday in the hopes of earning their first two Mission Valley League victories.
Quotable:
Marshall coach Sang Lee: “It was nice to get a victory because we were on a four-match slide and we needed something positive to go our way. You could tell we weren’t playing confidently because our serve-receive passing was off, but hopefully this win will help our morale.
I’m proud of the fact that the girls battled back from some big deficits during the match. We trailed by nearly double digits at one point, but the ladies maintained their composure. Hopefully, we can carry this momentum into the next match. We have to improve our passing by Wednesday. That is something we will address during practice.”
