From STAFF REPORTS
Westridge finished the first half of their Prep League schedule unbeaten.
But that’s not even the most impressive part.
The Tigers have not given up even one set in any of their 11 wins, including their six in Prep League play.
Allison Martinez paced the Tigers with 16 kills.
Westridge downed the Rebels, 25-14, 25-16 and 25-16 on Tuesday.
Makana Meyer added 8 kills and Eva Lekovic had 4 kills.
Libby Penn added 5 kills for Flintridge Prep.
Westridge will host Chadwick next Tuesday with the hopes of a season sweep just one year after sharing the Prep League title with the Dolphins.
Quotable:
Westridge coach Otto Lacayo: “I don’t think our record reflects on the adversity that we’re facing. Every day we are trying to better ourselves as a team. I think it’s important to appreciate what we’ve accomplished, but understand that we have a higher goal in mind. We’d like to go undefeated in league and to sustain a high level of play. Before the playoffs start, I’d like to see us play more with more passion and discipline. We kind of let up here and there, and I want that to stop.”
Prep League:
Westridge (11-1 overall, 6-0 in league)
Poly (15-3, 6-1)
Mayfield (3-5, 3-2)
Flintridge Prep (6-2, 2-2)
Chadwick (6-5, 2-3)
Rio Hondo Prep (9-6. 1-6)
Firebaugh (0-7, 0-5)
