From STAFF REPORTS
Pasadena has flirted with taking its program to the next level.
The Bulldogs (11-7 overall, 5-4 in league) have already won two more matches than all of last year, and they’ve given even the upper echelon (Pacific League) programs a run for their money so far.
On Thursday, though, the Bulldogs earned what should be considered a signature victory.
Pasadena, trailing two sets to one, rallied and defeated Burbank, 25-23, 17-25, 17-25, 25-10 and 16-14, in a battle of ‘Bulldogs.’
Burbank defeated Pasadena in 4 games back on September 12.
The victory also pulls Pasadena to within one-game of Burbank in the Pacific League standings.
Sophia Lindsay had a big night with 15 assists and 12 digs.
Divine Johnson added 9 kills and Taurie Magee finished with 8 kills.
Kailynn Wright chipped in with 5 kills.
Pasadena continues Pacific League play next Tuesday when the Bulldogs travel to last-place Hoover at 3:30.
Quotable:
Pasadena coach Emily Fuentes: “Overall, it was a great game and I am so proud of my girls for being able to finish strong and take the W home.”
Pasadena senior Sophia Lindsay: “It was a matter of staying together mentally and having the mind set that no ball would touch the floor. Beating Burbank was actually a relief, because it proved to us that we are better than the last couple of games. I knew could compete with these teams physically, but this reassured me that we could be strong mentally as well.”
Pacific League Standings:
Arcadia (10-3 overall, 7-1 in league)
Burroughs (16-3, 6-1)
Burbank (10-3, 6-3)
Pasadena (11-7, 5-4)
Crescenta Valley (5-10, 4-4)
Glendale (4-9, 1-5)
Hoover (0-6-1, 0-5)
