With today’s victory, Maranatha officially clinched its 5th Olympic League crown in 6 seasons. They are 8-0 in league and 10-4 overall.
Senior Angela Hsieh continues to add to her record-setting career, going 3-0 today, and increasing her Olympic League record consecutive win streak to 91 sets in a row.
# 2 singles, Malena Smith, continued her bid for her first undefeated league season, with a sweep.
Newly converted #3 singles, Rose Zhang, also swept, giving her a 6-0 start to her singles career.
#1 doubles, Madelyn Hernandez and MIchael Wilkins are also seeking to make some history, attempting to become only the second MHS doubles team to go undefeated in league (the first being Hailey McNall/Sage Polanco in 2014). They will also attempt to become the Olympic League’s first back-to-back league tournament doubles champions.
The newly formed #3 doubles team of Reagan Atallah and Aria Haver-Hill played their third straight match together, also recording a sweep.
#2 doubles, Hellen Hong and Stella Wang, split their two sets, while subs, Shuhan Yang and Natalie Song, played together as a pair for the first time, prevailing, 6-1.
Next up for the Lady Minutemen are the mighty Nitros of Glendale, ranked #2 in D4. A last-minute addition to the schedule, the Nitros will surely serve to toughen up the Lady Minutemen.
