A 1-1 tie must feel like a buzzkill in most scenarios.
What good comes in competing in an athletic event and no winner is determined?
In most cases, that would be an accurate sentiment.
But La Salle’s 1-1 tie on Wednesday with San Marino is certainly an impressive effort, especially considering their opponents’ skill level.
San Marino’s Aloisio Figuiera scored the lone Titans’ goal.
Eric Rivero had a first-half goal for La Salle, and then goalie CJ Rettig did the rest.
Rettig had a game-best 8 saves.
San Marino’s Dhilan Anvekar blocked 7 shots for the Titans.
Both teams will be back on the field shortly.
San Marino travels to Glendale today (Friday) at 3:30.
And La Salle will go to Pasadena High School on Saturday morning at 11 to take on the Bulldogs in a nonleague encounter.
