What a week it was for the Mayfield basketball program.
The Cubs defeated previously unbeaten Poly in their Prep League opener on Tuesday.
They spent the rest of the week earning the Artesia Tournament championship, after wins over Edgewood, La Puente, Saddleback and Friday night’s 47-39, title-game victory over tournament host, Artesia.
Katie Tupy led the way with 15 points and 12 rebounds.
Marguerite Irie finished 13 points and was named the tournament MVP.
Saray Tupy earned all-tournament honors.
Mayfield in on a 6-game win streak and they’ll host Immaculate Heart Tuesday afternoon at 3:30.
