With just two games to play in the regular season, Mayfield is trying to keep the Prep League’s second seed when it comes to their draw in the upcoming CIF-SS playoffs.
The Cubs kept their spot on Tuesday when they overcame an early Chadwick lead and left Palos Verdes with a 3-3 tie.
Angela Sarni, Elisa O’Reilly and Michaela Gallo scored for Mayfield.
After scoring two early second-half goals and giving the Cubs a 2-1 lead, the Dolphins answered back with two of their own to take a 3-2 lead.
Mayfield, though, scored with 7 minutes to play to salvage the tie.
Maeve Davitt had two saves in goal for the Cubs.
Mayfield will host Westridge on Friday at 3 in another Prep League battle.
