Maranatha collected seven hits and drew seven walks in just 4 2/3 innings Wednesday.
They also got a solid effort on the mound from their star junior.
And it added up to an 11-1 mercy-rule victory over Loyola on Wednesday.
Ben Guess had two hits, including a triple, scored three runs and had one RBI.
Dante Campione doubled and drove in three runs.
Marco Martinez doubled, scored and collected two RBIs.
Garrett Spicuzza went 4 2/3 innings for Loyola, and the senior allowed 11 runs (nine earned) on 7 hits.
Spicuzza walked seven and struck out two en route to being saddled with the loss.
Dawson Netz was solid, going the distance and allowing one run on three hits.
The junior right hander walked one and struck out 10 Loyola batters (in five innings).
Netz also had two hits, scored once and drove in a pair of runs.
Nik Trapani, Kevin Parada and Brandon Barba accounted for the three Loyola hits, and Trapani had the Cubs’ lone RBI.
Maranatha will face Chino Hills at 3:15 today (Thursday) in the Frozen Ropes Tournament.
