Baseball can be a very cruel game.
Take PHS starter Jacob Green for example.
The Bulldogs senior got the loss, despite pitching well enough to get a victory.
Green went all six on the hill for PHS and allowed four runs, but just one was earned.
Green surrendered eight hits, walked just one and struck out six Burroughs batters.
The PHS offense, though, could muster just one run on three hits.
David Banuelos. Adrian DePasquale and Hugo Escobedo each had one hit apiece and Connor Terry drove in the only run on a fourth-inning sacrifice fly to score DePasquale.
Brandon Ortega and Xavier Dubon did the rest for Burroughs.
Ortega earned the victory, going four innings and allowing one run on one hit.
Ortega walked two and struck out three.
Dubon went the final three innings on the bump for the Indians and didn’t allow a run on two hits.
Dubon walked three and struck out a pair.
Jesse Rodriguez went 2 for 3 and drove in a pair of runs for the Indians, an Collin Johnson added two hits and an RBI.
Andres Salazar doubled, scored and drove in one run for Burroughs.
PHS will hope to earn its first Pacific League victory when they host Burroughs on Friday at 3:30.
