La Salle didn’t just lose a quarterback when sophomore Chris Wilson transferred from the school to Arcadia after the 2017 football season.

They also missed out on having a quality arm on their pitching staff for Eddie McKiernan’s baseball program.

La Salle’s loss is certainly Arcadia’s gain.

The sophomore right hander threw a five-hit shutout at Muir on Wednesday, and earned the Apaches a 3-0 victory and the season sweep of the Mustangs.

Arcadia has begun the season 14-0, and their pitchers have allowed just 25 runs all year.

He walked one and struck out eight on 86 pitches and improved his personal record to 4-0.

Dominick Tello had one hit and drove in a pair of runs for the Apaches.

Tim Van Kirk had an RBI double for Arcadia.

Arcadia out-hit Muir 9-5, and they didn’t

David Solis had two of Muir’s five hits, going 2 for 3.

Amaris Harrison, Aryonis Harrison and Valente Vera each had one hit apiece for the Mustangs.

Brian Love was saddled with the loss after giving up three runs over the first six innings and did so on eight hits.

Love had not allowed a run this season until the second inning Wednesday.

He walked one batter and finished the game making 86 pitches.

Emiliano Martinez went a scoreless seventh for the Mustangs on the hill.

Muir will open a two-game series next week with Burroughs.

The Mustangs will travel to Burbank to take on the Indians Tuesday at 3:30.

Quotable:

Muir coach Adonis Harrison: “It was a really good game. Arcadia is a very good team and they capitalize on every mistake, and they have a really good pitching staff. And Coach Lemas is an awesome coach. It was a pleasure playing such a well-coached team. They have truly made us better. I love the way (Wilson) competed on the mound. We’re going to have some good battles with him over the next couple years.”

Arcadia coach Nick Lemas: “He’s (Wilson) very composed on the mound, especially for his age. He did a great job of getting ahead of guys and mixing it up as the game went on. He’s very talented and keeps getting better.”

Arcadia pitcher Chris Wilson: “The move (to Arcadia) has been awesome. They’ve welcomed me and are giving me a lot of opportunities. We have an extremely good defense so it takes a lot of pressure off me. I just try and hit my spots and know my defense will make plays behind me. Muir doesn’t get the credit they deserve. One through nine, they battle and put the bat on the ball and the (Harrison brothers) are so quick and tough to get out.”
