Marshall Fundamental earned a 5-4 victory in a nonleague contest between the two schools from Pasadena on Wednesday.
Samantha James started in the circle and the senior went 5 1/3 innings and she struck out nine batters.
Kristen McCann got the save by going the final 1 2/3 innings, and she fanned three Tigers’ batters.

Stella Stewart went 2 for 3 and had a sacrifice bunt.
Rubi De La Totte’s bunt in the third inning scored Katie Placensia from first base.
“We’re just trying to stay ahead. We’re working hard to get the wins,” Marshall captain Kristen McCann said. “Every game, we leave too many runners on, and we need more consistency with our bats.”
Marshall le throughout, but Westridge battled back late with two runs in both the sixth and seventh innings.
Deijah Bradley’s two-run home run in the sixth inning edged the Tigers closer and Io Jette had a solo shot in the seventh.
Julia Valenzuela drove in a seventh-inning run to pull Westridge to within 5-4, but a ground ball to Ainsely Martinez at shortstop ended the Tigers’ comeback.
Westridge will host Rio Hondo Prep on Friday at 3:45 in a Prep League showdown.
Marshall will travel to Pasadena on Friday at 3:45 in a nonleague contest.
