From STAFF REPORTS

You knew it wasn’t Zane Lindeman’s day when he goes all seven innings, allows just four hits, doesn’t walk a batter, strikes out four and his opponent scored one unearned run in the third inning.

The reigning Pasadena Sports Now Pitcher of the Year entered the game with a 0.33 ERA, which is second best in the area to Maranatha’s Dawson Netz.

After all of that on Tuesday, Lindeman still got saddled with the loss, as St. Paul defeated La Salle, and the Swordsmen and Lancers are now both 4-3 in second place in the Del Rey League pennant chase.

The loss also, for all intents and purposes, ends any chance for La Salle to win a league championship since Bishop Amat is still unbeaten in Del Rey League play.

Jayden Solorio singled and scored in the third and that was all Julian Tellez and Angel Ferrios needed.

Tellez went the first six scoreless on five hits, walking a pair and striking out three to get the win on the mound.

Fierros got the save despite allowing two seventh inning hits but getting out of it without any damage.

Mark Daley had two hits to lead La Salle’s seven-hit attack, while Henry Kavanaugh, Brennan Mace, James Barnard, Victor Scalzo and Jeff Daley had one hit each for the Lancers.

St. Paul’s Will Bermudez, Gilbert Casas and Anthony Vargas had base hits for the Swordsmen.

The same two programs will battle Friday at St. Paul at 3:15, and the winner will head into the weekend in second place.
