From STAFF REPORTS

If everything plays itself out as expected or how they hope, La Salle will host St. Anthony on May 1 with the Camino Real League title at stake.

The only league setback was a four-set loss to the Saints in Long Beach, and in a match that literally every set came down to a two-point differential.

The Lancers inched towards that ideal scenario Thursday when they swept visiting St. Genevieve.

La Salle earned the 25-10, 25-20 and 25-14 victory to improve to 6-1 in league play.

CJ Rettig led the way.

The junior contributed 8 kills in the win.

Brandon King added 22 digs and Anton Aritz finished with 5 kills.

The Lancers JV program also earned a 25-21 and 25-18 sweep of the Valiants.

La Salle will travel to San Pedro on Tuesday to take on Mary Star of the Sea at 5 in another Camino Real League contest.

Quotable:

La Salle coach Tiare Tuitama: “Our boys are working really hard and are hungry to achieve things no La Salle boys volleyball team has done for our school. We hope to take care of business along the way and set up that final match at home against St. Anthony. We’re going to continue to get better each day as we head into the playoffs, and at that time, I have a lot of confidence in my guys because of their work ethic, and the fact that these young men display a lot of character.”
