Maranatha isn’t just 8-0 in Olympic League play, their pitching has allowed just 7 total runs in those eight wins.
More impressively, though, MHS just finished its fourth consecutive game via shutout.
Max Blessinger and Casey Popham shut out Whittier Christian at Brookside Park, 5-0.
The Minutemen earned the three-game sweep of the Warriors this week by a combined scored of 25-0, and two of the three games ended in five-inning, mercy-rule scenarios.
Max Blessinger went five scoreless innings to earn the victory.
The junior allowed three hits, walked two and struck out a pair of Warriors’ batters.
Casey Popham went two scoreless to close it out and the sophomore didn’t allow a hit or walk and struck out two.
Blessinger walked twice from the leadoff spot, tripled and scored one run.
Nick Iverson had an RBI base hit and Luke Watson had an RBI double.
Dawson Netz singled and scored and Ethan Firestone walked twice and scored a pair of runs.
Marco Martinez walked and scored and Ben Guess and Brock Vradenburg had one hit each for MHS.
Maranatha will play its fifth game this week when they take on Oxford Academy on Saturday at USC.
