It’s been over 50 days since Poly has lost a baseball game.

It dates all the way back to March 8, a 3-2 loss at Temple City.

Since then, however, the Panthers have been near unstoppable, and they are cruising and on pace for yet another Prep League championship.

Poly rode the right arm of junior Franco Alonso and earned an 8-1 Prep League victory over their rivals from Flintridge Prep.

Alonso went the distance, allowing one run on three hits.

Alonso didn’t walk a batter and struck out four.

He helped his own cause with a hit, run scored and RBI.

Ty Evans doubled and drove in two runs and Ryan Clayton had a pair of hits, scored once and drove in another for the Panthers.

Poly will travel to Chadwick today (Wednesday) at 3:45 and then the Panthers and Prep will meet again on Saturday at the Glendale Sports Complex at 5.
