It’s only two matches into the 2018 girls volleyball season.
And while you can’t read too much into the first week, it’s certainly evident that Poly, with the return of the Mao sisters, is the team to beat for the Prep League crown.
Poly swept the back-to-back champions from Westridge in their Prep League opener and did so by scores of 25-21, 25-18 and 25-23.
Ella Mao had 9 kills and 15 digs, and her sister, Zoey Mao, added 22 assists and 10 blocks.
Alexis Pappachan finished with 7 kills and 3 aces for the Panthers.
Nicole Gibbs led Westridge with 18 kills, 6 digs, 2 blocks and a pair of aces.
Krystal Raymundo added 26 assists, 8 digs and an ace for the Tigers.
Westridge will travel to Flintridge Prep on Thursday at 5:30 and Poly will host Chadwick on Thursday at 3:45.
