When CIF posted the southern section playoff brackets Saturday afternoon, six Pasadena area programs found out their season would continue.
To some, it was a given, but not for everyone.
Marshall earned its first postseason appearance since 2009 by finishing fourth in the Mission Valley League.
The Eagles will take a bus ride Tuesday to face off with San Jacinto Valley Academy in Hemet in a CIF-SS Division 8 wild card game.
The Prep League co-champions, Poly and Mayfield, both host Division 4 games Thursday.
Poly will battle El Segundo and Mayfield welcomes Villa Park.
The first round opponents of both the Panthers and Cubs are under .500 for the season.
Westridge earned a Division 3 spot after finishing fourth in the Prep League, and the Tigers will travel to Glendora.
FSHA got a Division 2 invitation, and the Tologs travel to San Marcos in Santa Barbara.
La Salle got the toughest draw of any area program.
The Lancers will head out to Orange County and will compete against No. 1 seeded Aliso Niguel.
Other than Marshall’s wild card match Tuesday, all other Pasadena area programs will open the postseason on Thursday.
Winners of Thursday matches will play second-round games two nights later on Saturday.
