It took one play into Friday night’s Pacific League showdown for Arcadia to show they were pulling out all the stops.

After the opening kickoff, and on their first play from scrimmage, Arcadia receiver Rolandiss Whitener took a handoff and he threw it to Ahmad Lipscomb for a 61-yard touchdown.

The closest Muir got was 20-7 and 27-14, but the Mustangs could not close the gap beyond that.

Arcadia earned a 41-14 victory, which gives them the opportunity next week to go undefeated in Pacific League play for the first time in school history, according to coach Andrew Policky after Friday’s game.

The Apaches will host Crescenta Valley (8-1 overall, 5-1 in league) next Friday to close out the regular season.

Arcadia quarterback Dylan Guerra threw for three touchdowns and ran for another in the win, but the junior was picked off three times.

Guerra threw TD passes to Chris Wilson (21 yards), Frankie Contreras (81) and 13-yard score to Lipscomb.

Guerra also scored on the ground and Damarco Moorer had a 31-yard rushing TD to account for the Apaches’ scoring.

Tyron Clark, Calen Bullock and John Humphrey all picked off Guerra on Friday.

Muir got a pair of 3-yard TD runs from Aulonzo Bailey and Jahlique Stephens in the second quarter.

The Mustangs will meet up with Pasadena next Saturday morning at the Rose Bowl.

After PHS’ 35-32 victory over Burroughs, the game will determine fourth place in the Pacific League.
