Immaculate Heart High School’s Varsity Cross Country Team won its Division 4 race ahead of 12 teams at the recent Mt. SAC Invitational. Nine IH runners also earned medals at the annual event at Mt. San Antonio College in Walnut.

Showing her strength in the Varsity’s three-mile race was IH junior Amber Creasey who placed 4th (with a time of 20:18) among 125 runners. Also medaling in the Varsity race were IH runners Madeleine Creasey (11th place), Carolyn Najera (14th place), Violet Marko (16th place), Lily Kachikis (20th place), Daisy Salinas (48th place), and Katie Hughes (59th place).

Despite last Friday’s blistering hot temperatures, IH junior Ashley Galvez finished a strong 4th – and snagged a medal – in the two-mile Junior Varsity Race that drew 169 competitors. IH runners also clinched the 4th spot in the Sophomore Race among 49 teams, with IH freshman Emily Alonso medaling for her 13th place finish.
