Westridge started its Prep League schedule with three consecutive losses to start the 2016-17 girls basketball season.
But the Tigers used a huge effort from senior Juliana Favela Thursday night to defeat Rio Hondo Prep, 46-34, and have now won two consecutive league games.
Favela had a huge night, grabbing 18 rebounds and blocking 4 shots to go along with her 21 points.
Westridge plays next Thursday night at Flintridge Prep at 5, as the Tigers look for their third consecutive Prep League game.
“It truly was an extraordinary team effort on defense tonight,” Westridge coach Melanie Horn said. “When up by 11 points, the Kares had a great comeback, however, the Tigers remained strong. We displayed good patience on offense and better balance in scoring. I’m very proud of the girls’ effort.”
