From Staff Reports

Muir basketball coach Simaine Stewart said last week that finishing in second place in the Pacific League would not only be a solid accomplishment, but it could give the Mustangs a favorable draw.

Stewart said that after a couple setbacks, but he knew something about his program.

Muir has bounced back, including Friday night’s enormous 73-68 victory at Crescenta Valley in overtime.

Hunter Woods and Javonte James were off the charts good.

Woods had 16 points, 19 rebounds, 4 assists, 1 block and 1 steal.

James added 17 points, 11 rebounds, 3 assists and a steal.

Tiyon Martin added 12 points, 8 assists, 3 rebounds and 2 steals, while Eric Hollins chipped in with 11 points, 7 rebounds and 3 blocked shots.

Brandon Hicks had 10 points, 4 rebounds and 2 steals.

Muir will travel to Burbank on Tuesday at 6:30, and then finishes out the regular season at Pasadena on Thursday at 6.

The Mustangs swept third-place Crescenta Valley, so with a win on Tuesday, they would be guaranteed the Pacific League’s second seed.
