The Caltech men’s and women’s cross country teams have qualified for the list of NCAA Division III Men’s and Women’s Scholar Teams of the Year as named by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association.
The men’s team finished with a 3.61 cumulative GPA while the women put together a 3.56. The top-graded women’s team (Greenville College) finished with a 3.84 cumulative GPA and the top-graded men’s team was LeTourneau University (3.80). For teams to be considered for the list, they must have competed and compiled a team score at an NCAA Regional Meet and meet a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.10 on the traditional 4.0 scale.
The Beavers competed at the NCAA West Regional meet this year and the women’s team posted its best finish ever, coming in 11th place out of 15 teams. The men’s team had seven runners compete in their first-ever regional race after both squads posted highly successful SCIAC finishes.
