The Pasadena City College women’s track and field team is small in numbers, but brings its top cross country runner and track letterman Franceska Millanponce back in the Lancers first season under new head coach Innocent Egbunike.

Millanponce is strong at the middle distance events. She placed sixth overall in the 3,000 meters (11:48.25) at the Bakersfield Battle of the Regions Meet Feb. 10. Millanponce was second in her heat and ninth overall in the 1,500 at 5:22.90.

At the season-opening SCC Opener Meet held at El Camino College Feb. 3, Millanponce ran an outstanding 11:27.24 to finish sixth in the 3,000. That time places her No. 14 in the state rankings in that event.

Incoming freshman Natalie Smith (Crescenta Valley High) scored a third place finish in the 100 hurdles at 18.04 seconds. Asha Layton (Hamilton High) and Naomi Hernandez (Schurr HS) will compete in sprints as the season winds on.

Bianca Addison, a discus/shot put thrower from two seasons ago, returns to the Lancers in ’17.
