To say Wednesday, February 15 was a day that Muir basketball coach Simaine Stewart won’t ever forget would be quite an understatement.
At 1:55 a.m. Stewart’s wife, Tracy, gave birth to a beautiful baby girl named Payton.
If that weren’t enough, Stewart’s Mustangs’ which includes a roster with his son Simaine on it, defeated Simi Valley, 72-50, some 18 hours later in a CIF-SS Division 2-A first round playoff game.
Hunter Woods led the way with 19 points, 15 rebounds, 2 blocks, 3 assists and 3 steals.
Tiyon Martin added 15 points, 7 assists and 2 steals.
Eric Hollins chipped in with 14 points, 10 rebounds and 4 blocks.
Javonte James finished with 9 points, 7 rebounds, 4 assists, a blocked shot, and a steal.
Simaine scored 5 points for his little sister, and added 7 assists and 4 rebounds.
Tracy and Payton are resting and doing well.
Muir (18-9) won’t have to travel very far on Friday night.
The Mustangs will play at La Salle at 7 after the Lancers defeated Eisenhower, 47-39.
“2/15/2017 was an exciting day for the Mustang family,” Coach Stewart said. “My wife and I welcomed our Daughter Payton into the world today. She’s healthy and ready to be a future ‘Stang.'”
