It isn’t just the points that Bryce Hamilton and Darius Brown II score that make Pasadena such a difficult team to beat and the star duo so outstanding.

They both do much more than just score.

Hamilton had 27 points, but he also grabbed 10 rebounds.

Brown II didn’t just score 19 points, he also dished out 12 assists.

In all, Pasadena, the Pacific League champs, outlasted Beaumont, 69-47, in Friday night’s CIF-SS Division 1-A playoff game.

Also, what can’t be forgotten, this was Pasadena’s first full game in 9 days and they slowly but surely found their rhythm.

“I’m very proud of how the kids performed tonight against a very good Beaumont team,” Pasadena coach Tony Brooks said. “Early on, we had to shake off some rust considering we had not played a full game since Jan 7th. Lazarus Morris gets the game ball because of his great defense on their leading scorer. In order for us to keep this going, we need our entire team to step up. Tonight we did just that.”

Brown II also had four steals and hit three 3-point shots in the victory.

“We won on our defensive play and our ball movement as a team,” Pasadena guard Darius Brown II said. ” I think we need to work on our transition defense to be more successful.”

Hamilton made 9 of 15 shots, but also had 5 assists and 4 steals.

Pasadena (22-5) will travel out to Newport Beach on Tuesday to take on Corona del Mar High School at 7.

The Sea Kings (22-7) defeated Dominguez, 68-58, on Friday.

Not be to be overlooked, Jesse Watkins had 6 points and a game-high 12 rebounds for Pasadena.

Pasadena Scoring: Bryce Hamilton 27, Darius Brown II 19, Jesse Watkins 6, Justin Taylor 5, Laz Morris 4, Jordan Bray 3, Darius Mason 3, Kalongi West 2.

Box Score:
Beaumont: 12-7-16-12-(47)
Pasadena 11-20-18-20-(69)
