From Staff Reports
If there was ever a game that La Salle couldn’t afford to get off to a slow start offensively, it was Tuesday night at No. 1 seed Oxnard.
The Lancers (21-10) scored just 6 points in the first quarter and Oxnard cruised to a 73-55 victory in the Division 2-A quarterfinals.
Darius Henderson led La Salle with 16 points, Jaice Gardner had 15 and KJ Franklin finished with 13 for the Lancers.
While the loss is heartbreaking, the Lancers bring back their high-scoring big man, Darius Henderson, and sophomore guard KJ Franklin, next season.
Senior forward Jaice Gardner: “We got off to a bad start, which we do often, but we come back from it. This team (Oxnard) just wasn’t the team to let get an early big lead in the game. With this game being the last game of my senior year, I felt I played my heart out and we tried our hardest to come back and win. Now, I take what I’ve leaned from today and apply it to my future.”
