Brennah Bronk opened the 2017 softball season in style.
She went 5 scoreless innings and struck out nine.
Bronk picked up the win, and she also doubled and tripled at the plate.
Poly went on to defeat visiting Ramona Covent, 3-1, Wednesday afternoon, to start the season, 1-0.
Vivian Wheeler went the final 2 innings for the Panthers, and allowed a seventh-inning run before closing out Ramona Convent.
Kiley Kraft went all 6 innings for the Tigers (0-1) and was saddled with the loss.
Megan Kelleher, just four days after winning a CIF championship for Poly in water polo, made her varsity debut and tripled over the left-fielders head.
Catalina Alonso and Ella Cornwell each drove in a run for Poly.
Ramona Convent will host Cantwell-Sacred Heart on Monday at 3:30, and Poly hosts Paraclete on Tuesday at 3:30.
