The Flintridge Prep boys volleyball team in on quite the roll.

The Rebels took down La Canada, 16-25, 25-21, 14-25, 25-13 and 15-11 in a five set thriller on Monday afternoon.

It was a road game for the Rebels, but it’s all about two blocks or so from the Prep campus to La Canada High.

AJ Nicassio led the way with 13 kills and 3 aces.

Jonny Samuels added 11 kills and 3 aces.

Prep improved to 14-2 on the season, and it was their eighth consecutive victory.

Jake Althouse and Majeed Ismail both had 7 blocks apiece.

The Rebels will host Rio Hondo Prep on Wednesday at 3:30 as Prep League play continues.

Quotable:

Flintridge Prep coach Sean Beattie: “It was like being on a roller coaster. You’re having a good time and then the drop comes and it scares you a little. They’d go on a 10-point run and we couldn’t catch them, and then we’d do that to them. We were either on or we were off. I am feeling really good with the team. We graduated a huge chunk of the starters this year. We thought it was going to be a year with growing pains. I am very happy with where we are, but we can still get better.”

Flintridge Prep outside hitter AJ Nicassio: “I feel very confident in each and every one of my teammates. We started off poorly but came together to pull off the win. We have all started to really connect on our passes, sets, and hits, and the results are showing.”

Prep League Standings:
Flintridge Prep (14-2 overall, 4-0 in league)
Firebaugh (2-2, 1-1)
Rio Hondo Prep (8-13, 1-2 in league)
Chadwick (4-7, 1-2)
Poly (3-8, 0-2)
