From Staff Reports

Charles Acker might not be considered the Maranatha ace, but he is certainly playing and pitching like he is.

Ackler also went 2 for 4 in Maranatha’s 10-3 victory over Heritage Christian on Tuesday night.

Max Blessinger went 2 for 3 with three runs scored and two more stolen bases.

Eddie Lopez continued his torrid hitting pace with two hits, including two doubles and the senior drove in three runs.

Marco Martinez had two hits, scored twice and drove in a run.

Dawson Netz went 1 for 2 with two RBIs and a double.

Maranath will go to Heritage Christian on Friday to wrap up their two-game series this week.

Quotable:

Maranatha coach Matt Shupper: “Tonight’s game was important for us coming back into league play. We needed to score early and set an offensive tone, we did that well. We are focusing on a playoff mind set and tonight we did a good job executing the game plan. Acker did a great job stepping up and pitched out of a tough jam in the second inning. The top of the order was hot, and the bottom half came up with some timely hits. We have the next two days to get ready to play Heritage again on Friday. They are a very well coached team with young arms that throw well, and I am sure they will be tough at their place.”
