If nothing else, La Salle junior Zane Lindeman proved on Thursday that perseverance is in his nature.

Last week, Lindeman threw a no-hitter over San Pedro.

Six days later, Lindeman blew a save opportunity against St. Paul in Santa Fe Springs, but the Lancers rallied and got the win.

Thursday afternoon, Lindeman went all seven innings and allowed just a first-inning run to lead La Salle to a 3-1 victory over the Swordsmen at the Arcadia County Park.

Lindeman didn’t walk a batter and struck out two.

He did it all on 70 pitches, which was the same exact pitch total from his no-hitter last week.

Sammy Martinez has been an unsung hero for the Lancers.

The senior designated hitter doubled and drove in a run.

Will Bermudez went 3 for 3 with a run scored for St. Paul.

Julian Sansores had two hits and the Swordsmen’ only RBI of the game.

Julian Tellez got the loss after going six innings, allowing three runs (two earned) on five hits.

Tellez didn’t want a batter and struck out two La Salle batters.

Noah Zate went 1 for 3 with a sac fly, one run scored and drove in another.

La Salle will play West Torrance on Saturday at 11 a.m. in the Redondo Tournament and then resume league play with first-place Bishop Amat on Tuesday at the Arcadia County Park at 4.

Quotable:
La Salle coach Mike Parisi: “Zane stepped up today for the team. He did a great job making adjustments in the game and using his change up. That was a huge win for us as we continue to fight for a playoff spot.”

La Salle pitcher Zane Lindeman: “I had a rough couple of first innings, was leaving the ball up, but I settled down later in the game and started getting ground balls. That’s when I was successful. The team played great defense, and got some timely RBIs. It was a great overall team win.”
