Sophomore shortstop Karina Moreno etched her name in the Pasadena City College softball record book by setting both the single season and career mark for runs scored as The Lancers closed the regular season with their 25th victory, an 11-0, 5-inning rout over Los Angeles Harbor on Wednesday.

Moreno scored three runs v. the Seahawks to give her 46 runs, breaking the single-season mark of 45 set by Kelli Falls in 2000. Moreno’s 82 career runs is also puts her at the top of the list all-time for PCC players.

Moreno batted 2-for-2 with two walks, including a triple. She scored in each of the first three innings, and plated her historic 46th run in the third on Amber Ingram’s triple. Rightfielder Brittany Gonzales slugged a home run and a double with three RBI while catcher Jeneve Medrano hit an inside-the-park homer in the fourth.

Catcher Grace Sinisterra (two steals) and first baseman Torrey Johnson each went 2-for-2 while second baseman Alex Howard bombed a triple and two RBI. Celina Mesa added a double. Lauren Jackson pitched the first three innings of 1-hit ball for her sixth win and Pica Madrid earned her fourth save with two scoreless innings and three Ks.

On April 25, Angel Urbina was 2-for-3 but Pasadena lost at Santa Ana, 6-3. On April 20, South Coast Conference North Division champion Mt. San Antonio handed PCC a 17-5 defeat. Gonzales was 1-for-2 with two RBI. PCC fell at Southwestern, 3-2, on April 19. Jazmine Cabrera went 1-for-3 with a 2-run double.

PCC with a 25-13-1 overall record and a second place finish in the SCC North will wait to see if it made the postseason. It will be announced both here and on our #pccathletics twitter site.
