The undefeated, South Coast Conference champion Pasadena City College women’s badminton team travel to play Grossmont, the undefeated Pacific Coast Athletic Conference champs, in the Southern California championship match on Wednesday, May 3. The team final begins at 3 p.m.

The Lancers are 11-0 overall and finished the SCC schedule at 9-0 under head coach Jen Ho, who has never lost a regular season match in three seasons running the program at 35-0.

As of press time, Sarah Thaw, Hong Yan Liu, Natalie Ong, Amy Huang, Chaw Thinzar Mon, and Janin Herrera were the top six Lancers on their singles ladder. Noemi Diaz and Annie Ly are also part of the Lancers rotation.

Grossmont is 6-0 overall and in conference. The Griffins only played two opponents all season in San Diego City and Irvine Valley as San Diego Mesa did not field a team this season.

The Lancers won last year’s SoCal title over Irvine Valley, 11-10, before losing to Fresno City in the state championship. PCC has never won a state team title. Grossmont has also never won the state crown.
