Isaac Esqueda had a no-hitter through five innings on Tuesday.

The Bishop Amat pitcher gave up an RBI base hit to La Salle freshman Luke Heiberg in the sixth inning that scored Noah Zate,

But Esqueda went the distance, and struck out 11 to lead Bishop Amat over La Salle, 4-1, in a Del Rey League showdown.

Amat (9-0) earned at least a share of the league championship with three games to go.

Grant Fosselman got the loss.

The Lancers lefty went 4 2/3 innings, and allowed four runs on six hits.

Fosselman walked five and struck out five.

Esqueda struck out 8 of the 9 La Salle batters he faced at least once.

Noah Zate was the only La Salle batter who did not go down on strikes on Tuesday.

Esqueda also went 2 for 2 at the plate with an RBI.

Richard Castro singled, scored one run and drove in two for Amat.

James Barnard and Jeff Daley combined to go the final 2 1/3 innings and didn’t allow a run.

Amat will host La Salle Friday at 3:15 to end their season series.
