The only thing standing between Alverno and an outright Horizon League championship was Ramona Convent.
The Tigers entered Thursday’s showdown just one-game back of the Jaguars with two games to play.
But thanks to pitcher Brianna Sanchez and Alyssa Martinez, the drama ended Thursday.
Alverno defeated Ramona Convent, 4-3, behind a complete-game effort from Sanchez in the circle.
Sanchez allowed three runs on seven hits and struck out 10 batters.
Alyssa Martinez did her part by driving in two of the Jaguars four runs, and finished with two hits.
Delaney Brancheau went 3 for 4 with a run scored.
Alicia Mercado had two hits and a run scored.
Alex Barroso and Clarissa Gianoli both had one hit and an RBI for Alverno.
The Jags finish out their regular season schedule on Tuesday, as they’ll host San Gabriel Mission.
