Immaculate Heart junior Leah Domantay blazed her way to victory by winning the 100-meter race in Mission League finals last week. Domantay won the same event last year in the Sunshine League.
Competing for the first time in the Mission League, Immaculate Heart’s Track & Field Team finished a strong season in second place following league finals last week at Occidental College.
Coached by Florence Edi, team members turned in stellar performances in finals competition. Among the standouts, junior Leah Domantay won the 100-meter race for the second year in a row, becoming the first IH Panda to win that event in the Mission League this year and in the Sunshine League last year.
“We are all so very proud of Leah,” said IH Athletic Director Maureen Rodriguez. “It was an outstanding performance, and Leah is currently ranked third in CIF-Southern Section Division 4.”
Domantay also joined sophomore Zaza Martinez, and juniors Nia Gilmore and Catherine Gibson for a third place finish in the 4×100 relay race.
Meanwhile, Gibson found success by finishing third in the 400-meter race and third in the triple jump. Additionally, sophomore Lola Salinas finished third in the high jump, and junior Amber Creasey finished fourth in both the one-mile and two-mile races.
In the shot put, senior Brenna Stutenroth clinched first place, sophomore Kaitlyn Park finished third, and sophomore Alane Park took fifth. Alane Park also took the top spot in discus, with Stutenroth in third, followed by Kaitlyn Park in fourth.
Immaculate Heart now has eight students advancing to CIF-Southern Section prelims on Saturday, May 13, in Carpinteria: Leah Domantay, Catherine Gibson, Nia Gilmore, Zaza Martinez, Alane Park, Kaitlyn Park, Lola Salinas and Brenna Stutenroth.

Immaculate Heart Swimmers Deliver Winning Strokes
Immaculate Heart’s JV Swim Team crushed all competition to clinch the JV Sunshine League title in finals last week at Pierce College. Also impressive was the IH Varsity Swim Team which placed second in the Sunshine League after winning key races.
Despite the day’s soaring temperatures in Woodland Hills, IH Pandas sizzled in the pool by delivering outstanding performances: Junior Mary Spearman won the 200 Individual Medley and senior Alex Nichols won the 100 Breaststroke. Especially exciting was Immaculate Heart’s 400 relay team – consisting of senior Oona Holahan, juniors Mia Speier and Olivia Shaw, and sophomore Sydney Cahill – which came from behind and touched the wall ahead of Marlborough by only .04 of a second!
“It was an exciting day, and I’m so proud of our swimmers,” said IH Athletic Director Maureen Rodriguez. “Not only were they well behaved, but they also cheered for all of the schools.”

Immaculate Heart Diver Medals at CIF-SS Diving Championships
Immaculate Heart congratulates junior Brighida Rosendahl for her medal-winning performance at the CIF-SS finals Monday. Competing on both the one-meter and three-meter boards, Rosendahl placed fourth overal out of 16 divers.
Her success at CIF follows her third-place showing at the recent USA Junior Diving Regional Championship in Laguna Naguel. At that event, Rosendahl placed 8th out of 50 divers in the 16-18 age group on the one-meter board. On the three-meter board, she placed third out of 42 divers. Based on those results, she will compete next in USA Junior Diving’s Western Zones competition, June 28 – July 2, at the Rose Bowl Aquatic Center.
