All season, Brianna Sanchez has been invaluable to Alverno’s success, including a Horizon League championship.
So, why should the playoffs be any different?
Sanchez, leading 1-0 in Thursday’s CIF-SS Division 5 playoff game with La Quinta of Westminster, hit a 3-run blast in the third inning.
She also went the distance in the circle, allowing just one run on six hits.
Sanchez walked one and struck out three batters.
Isabella Fyson had one hit and an RBI to account for the Jaguars’ offense.
Alicia Mercado went 2 for 3 with a run scored.
Alverno (17-8) will host West Torrance (20-7) on Tuesday at 3:15 in the second round of the playoffs.
