Caltech track & field junior Alex Bourzutschky (Potomac, Md. / Montgomery Blair) has been named CoSIDA Academic All-District for Cross Country/Track & Field.

CoSIDA Release

Bourzutschky, a two-sport athlete in swimming & diving and track & field, earned national attention this year with an appearance in the Jeopardy! College Championship. The former diver switched to sprint freestyle and breaststroke in swimming this past winter and continued pole vaulting and sprinting for track & field as a key member of the 4×100 and 4×400 relays. A physics option, he has compiled a 3.99 GPA and spent the summer of 2015 researching exoplanet magma ocean magnetic fields with Prof. David Stevenson.

Bourzutschky joins water polo senior Chris Bradley (Half Moon Bay, Calif. / Junipero Serra) and tennis senior Ruthwick Pathireddy (Cerritos, Calif. / Whitney) as All-District recipients this academic year.

As a First Team honoree, Bourzutschky will advance to the Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America recognition will be announced in late June.
