Chandler’s middle school sports teams wrapped up an unprecedented athletic year. Its “A” teams (eighth graders) were crowned league champions in eight sports: girls’ basketball, golf, soccer and softball and boys’ basketball, golf, swimming and volleyball. At last week’s Sports Awards ceremony, the students pictured in the two photos below received the 5-sport award for playing on 5 “A” teams in their eighth grade year.

Chandler’s athletic director, Bill Anderson, praised the students by noting, “These are athletic kids who stretched their comfort zone to play sports they don’t normally play, to help their classmates and their school. They are all outstanding at one or two sports and they are willing to learn new sports.”
