The Caltech men’s cross country team has been picked to finish fifth in the SCIAC, according to the Preseason Coaches Poll.
Head Coach Ben Raphelson’s squad placed sixth in the conference last season after finishing fifth in the Multi-Duals and sixth in the Championships, giving the University of Redlands the tiebreaker in the final standings.
This year’s squad garnered 40 points in the voting to edge out the Bulldogs by a single point, while trailing fourth-place Whittier College by just five. The three teams ranked above Whittier all received at least two first-place votes, while seventh-place Chapman University came in eight points behind Redlands and nine ahead of Cal Lutheran University.
