St. Francis will look to keep its train running at full speed when they travel to Buena Park (1-3) Friday at 7.
The Golden Knights have yet to be challenged despite playing a month’s worth of games.
They have wins over Mira Costa, Pasadena, La Serna and Saugus by a combined score of 188-61, and none of their starters have played a full game thus far.
Last week, quarterback Darius Perrantes (884 yards passing, 10 TD’s, 2 interceptions) was removed early for cautionary reasons after taking a big hit, but the star junior is expected to be fine.
Elijah Washington finally got significant touches.
Washington had two TD runs for the second week in a row, and rushed for over 100 yards on 18 carries.
Even if the Golden Knights blow the Coyotes out, you have to think coach Jim Bonds will allow his starters a little more time than in the previous four games in order to get ready for their Angelus League opener with St. Paul next Friday at home.
Look for Blake Howard and Greg Dulcich to have big games at receiver as Perrantes looks to sharpen his tools before league begins.
Muir (2-2, 0-1) is coming off two consecutive home losses after starting the season 2-0 and by a combined score of 86-0.
The Mustangs dropped a 21-20 nonleague contest to La Salle two weeks ago and then fell, 35-19, last Friday to visiting Arcadia.
Muir was in the game for most of the first half, and then Arcadia scored 29 unanswered points and never looked back.
Jahlique Stephens had two TD runs and Jonathan Stephens had the other.
Muir hopes to get quarterbacks Brian Love and Tyquise Solomon back on track with their vertical game.
The Mustangs have a tall task, though, as they travel to undefeated Crescenta Valley (4-0 overall, 1-0 in league).
The Falcons offense is averaging north of 40 points per game, while the Mustangs are putting up about 30 points per night.
Pasadena will host Glendale (2-2, 0-1) at 7.
The Bulldogs’ 2017 has been disastrous so far, and they’re getting outscored by a 40-20 clip through the first four weeks.
Pasadena has a solid core of athletes, but untimely mistakes and a lack of discipline have crippled the Bulldogs.
Daron Derderian, Jalen Jolley, Jaloni West and Kalonji West will be key if Pasadena is to earn their first victory of 2017.
Marshall (1-4) and La Salle (2-3) are on their bye weeks.
